Quilters on the Rock

Welcome Whidbey Quilters

Quilters On The Rock, a not for profit quilt guild, started in 1981. Twenty two ladies showed up at that first meeting held at Skagit Valley College. By the second meeting, there were still more. Today, there are upwards of 100 paid members who gather monthly at the Coupeville Methodist Church.

Just as it was in 1981, the goal of the club is to develop and encourage creativity of those interested in the art of quilting. Our members range from novice to published. Monthly programs are presented by club members and local quilting personalities and are supplemented by dues and member registration fees. These lectures and workshops are wonderful opportunities to learn new techniques or brush up on old ones.

QOR supports our communities, which stretch the length of Whidbey Island. Through our Community Quilts program, started in 2003, we have made and donated over 729 quilts to persons in need. Reaching out to the wider community, our members participate in the American Hero Quilts project, headquartered on Vashon Island. QOR has participated since late 2005 and has sent over 400 quilts of comfort to returning wounded military personnel, recovering at Madigan Army Hospital.
